To the Lighthouse! You can’t come to Maine without seeing its lighthouses. Our favorites are the charming Marshall Point Lighthouse and museum in Port Clyde (45 minutes southeast), the Owl’s Head Lighthouse (30 minutes southeast) with its commanding views of Penobscot Bay, and Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (45 minutes south), especially because the drive to get there from our coastal Maine Inn features spectacular views and the lighthouse itself sits high on a rugged, rocky coastline.

For closer opportunities that combine a bit of exercise with lighthouse viewing, go to the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse (20 minutes southeast) at the end of a mile long walk across the waters of Rockland Harbor or rent a kayak or canoe in Camden Harbor, grab a lobster roll to go, and row over to Curtis Island Lighthouse at the entrance to Camden Harbor.  And don’t forget to check out the Lighthouse Museum in Rockland.
